Surface Blasting Systems LLC was first formed as Alto Precision Automation in 1992. The first design/build contract was with the US Navy, for a massive manual walk-in blast booth. The name was soon changed to Precision Automation Systems, where from attention to detail and quality, word got out and orders began to roll in.
In 1996, a proprietary new blasting gun was developed, which uses less air for equal performance, and allows quick substitution of Boron inserts rather than replacement of the entire gun.
In 1997, the largest fully automated robotic blasting system in the world was built, incorporating 48 blast guns, 5 articulated 6-axis robots, and 4 separate pressure pot systems delivering 2 different medias simultaneously. Following was another name change to Surface Automation Systems.
In 1999, a reorganization of the company to inspire more growth led to a redistribution of shares to key employees who created a vision to move the company toward an increase in quailty and sales.
In 2001, with continued increase in sales and design innovation, the name was changed to Surface Blasting Systems, to better reflect the core product.
Now on the global map by building custom automated systems for the aerospace, medical, defense, automotive, energy, manufacturing and food industries installed around the world, SBS has been both honored and blessed with repeat business from customers like….
