A robotic system can be a part of any of the above system styles, and it can range from a single axis movement of either a part or a gun, to a full 8 axis articulated wonder of technology.
In its most basic form, a servo motor, one that responds to signals for incremental movement and gives feedback that it has done so, is given its instructions from a Programable Logic Controller (PLC). This can be designed to simply move a blast gun up and down at a predetermined speed while parts move in front of it.
But ever more sophisticated PLC's are now controlling a growing number of blast system components as automation increases consistency in quality and higher volume production. Such a system operates similar to a well choreographed, but highly complicated dance, where the performers never get tired, sick, or unhappy, and the performance quality is the same over and over and over again.
